Arctic U or Nordic Twin: compare the usable space and access

Compare Arctic U and Nordic Twin in three passes: outside fit, inside geometry and the journey into the backyard. A larger interior is not automatically the better choice if it compromises the doorway, service route or the space someone needs to enter comfortably.

The outside comparison

Arctic U is currently listed at 135 cm long, 65 cm wide and 76 cm high. Nordic Twin is listed at 160 cm long, 110 cm wide and 76 cm high. Keep the same length–width–height order on your comparison sheet so a rotated sketch does not accidentally swap the entry side. [1][2]

Calculated from those listed outside lengths and widths, their bounding rectangles are 0.8775 m² and 1.76 m² respectively. This is a comparison of body rectangles only. It is not the installed footprint, contact area, required base size or an engineering load calculation. Neither figure includes the separate chiller. [1][2]

Compare the inside without promising fit

The Arctic U listing gives inner dimensions of 126 × 56 × 60 cm; Nordic Twin lists 150 × 100 × 60 cm. These describe the listed internal envelope, not a guarantee of comfortable seating for a particular person. Ask for an internal drawing showing any curves, fittings and seating shape rather than treating the envelope as a completely empty box. [1][2]

Write down what matters to the intended adult users: seated posture, room for legs, the preferred entry side and whether assistance may be needed. A demonstration or measured drawing is more useful than inferring comfort from height alone. Do not infer a suitable water level from the internal height; keep fill guidance and personal suitability separate.

The entrance is a different measurement

Measure the delivery route independently from the final position. Record clear gate openings, turns, overhead restrictions and any narrow point after the gate. Ask for packaged dimensions, delivery equipment and an agreed unloading method. Outside tub dimensions cannot establish the clearance needed by a crate, pallet or handling team.

Both listings give the chiller as 43 × 59 × 53 cm. Nordic Twin also lists a step of 65 × 36 × 24 cm. Put these on the access and final-layout drawings, even if the delivery company proposes handling them separately. Confirm the arrangement rather than assuming everything arrives as one piece. [1][2]

Use a pass, query or fail matrix

Create rows for body position, internal fit, entry route, lid storage and service access. Give each model a pass, query or fail in every row, with the measurement or document beside it. In a hypothetical side passage, one model may pass the final-position test but remain a query for the turn at the gate. Do not average that uncertainty away with better scores elsewhere.

Choose only after the remaining queries have answers. This comparison deliberately does not rank therapeutic outcomes, noise or running costs: the dimensions do not establish those. A clear distinction between measured facts and unanswered questions makes the decision easier to revisit if the site or household changes.

Your practical checklist

  • Copy outer and inner dimensions into separate rows.
  • Record packaged dimensions as unknown until supplied.
  • Include the chiller and any step on the drawing.
  • Resolve every delivery-route query before ordering.

Does Nordic Twin take twice the installed space?

The body rectangles differ, but installed space depends on the actual arrangement and required clearances. Do not use the rectangle ratio as an installation rule.

Can outside measurements prove a comfortable fit?

No. Use the interior drawing and, where possible, a suitable demonstration to assess posture and access.
