Sauna bench movement or loose fixings: when to pause use

If a sauna bench moves unexpectedly or a fixing appears loose, pause seating use and document the condition without load-testing it. A good report identifies the moving part and its support arrangement so the repair scope is not reduced to “tighten everything”.

Describe what moved during ordinary use

Record whether the movement involved a seat board, the entire bench, a support or a backrest. Say what you noticed during normal use and when; do not sit, bounce or push on it again to demonstrate the symptom. If you cannot distinguish the part, an overview photograph is better than a confident but wrong name.

Keep the affected seating out of use. Mark the issue in the household’s booking or maintenance note so another person does not assume that an empty cabin is available. If the damaged area affects access, stop use of the cabin while it is assessed.

Create a part-and-location record

Sketch the seating layout from the doorway and label the affected section. Use photos of the whole seat, visible supports and the fixing location from accessible positions. Do not remove a bench or reach into hidden areas simply to complete the photograph set. Put “not visible” in the report for concealed parts.

Record the installation date, whether the bench is original and whether anyone previously removed or repaired it. Include the order reference and any component diagram supplied with that particular cabin. These details help separate a loose connection, a damaged part and an incomplete assembly without the owner pretending to diagnose which one occurred.

Preserve the original condition

Do not substitute a screw that happens to fit, add adhesive or tighten every visible fixing indiscriminately. Match replacement fixings and any tightening instructions to the actual assembly and its condition; request the part specification with the repair scope.

The Cube 2 manual says component details can vary slightly by production batch. That makes the cabin identity and installation records important when requesting a replacement part; visual similarity alone is not the specification. [1]

Ask for a repair scope and an acceptance check

A useful request asks which parts require inspection, whether replacements are needed, who should do the work and what will establish that the seating is ready for normal use. Ask whether related supports should be checked at the same visit. Keep the supplier’s written response with the photos rather than relying on a remembered phone instruction.

The Cube 2 support section asks owners to keep proof of purchase and installation details and notes that support may require photographs and maintenance evidence. Assemble those records now; the purpose is to help assess the case, not decide in advance who is liable. [2]

Example: one seat section shifts

An owner notices a seat section shift when getting up. They stop using it and photograph the seating layout and visible connection from the doorway. The report says exactly that; it does not claim that every support is sound or that one screw will fix it. After authorised work, they retain the part identity, work description and return-to-use advice.

This creates a useful endpoint: the recorded defect has been assessed and the relevant work checked. It also gives a future repairer context if the same movement returns, without encouraging repeated owner load tests.

Your practical checklist

  • Pause use of unstable seating.
  • Name or photograph the moving section without testing it again.
  • Include accessible supports and original assembly records.
  • Get a model-specific parts and work scope.
  • Save completion and return-to-use instructions.

Should I tighten all screws until movement stops?

This guide supplies no torque or blanket tightening instruction. Have the affected assembly assessed rather than altering every connection.

What if I cannot see the fixing?

Mark it not visible and send an overview. Do not dismantle seating to make the report complete.
