How to Choose a Four-Person Outdoor Sauna
A four-person outdoor sauna can be a social space or simply a roomier sauna for a couple. The important distinction is whether you need four seated places occasionally or generous personal space every time. Capacity should be checked against the layout, not treated as a promise of identical comfort for every group.

Start with normal occupancy
Write down who will usually use the cabin and whether they prefer sitting upright, changing levels or stretching their legs. Four adults sharing benches need a clear route past one another and away from the heater. Ask for a bench plan that shows the door, guard and usable sitting areas. A four-person designation does not automatically mean four people can recline, nor does it establish suitability for children without separate supervision and medical considerations.
Understand the Cube 4 footprint
Swell lists Cube 4 as designed for up to four people, with external dimensions of 1930mm W × 1340mm D × 2100mm H. It lists a 55cm upper bench depth and 75cm lower bench depth.[1] Request the drawing for the complete interior arrangement. Those exterior measurements are useful for a first site sketch but exclude the additional room needed for safe use, required clearances, assembly and maintenance.
Compare space with a smaller cabin honestly
For one regular user and rare visitors, a smaller sauna may leave more useful garden space. For two regular users wanting room to change posture, the larger cabin may be worthwhile even if four people seldom use it. Do not choose on a price-per-person calculation alone. Check whether your site, access route and base suit the larger width and whether the landing can accommodate people waiting to enter without blocking the door.
Choose controls without assuming more power
The current Cube 4 packages all use a 6kW heater: The Wall SW60, The Wall SW60E with Fenix WiFi panel, or Spirit SP60E with Xenio WiFi panel.[1] Moving to Spirit is therefore not a step from 6kW to a higher rated output in this range. Compare heater design, control preference and installed cost. Have a licensed electrician determine the final circuit and connection requirements from the selected equipment instructions.
Make the installation work for a group
Provide a lit, non-slip landing and a convenient place for towels and water outside the hot cabin. Keep the exit unobstructed, and do not store clothing on or above the heater. The solid Japanese cedar cabin and roof covering need normal outdoor inspection and care.[1] If the sauna will sit on a deck, get the combined structure, heater, stone and occupant loads assessed before choosing the spot. Extra capacity is useful only when the whole installation supports it.
Your practical checklist
- Ask for a dimensioned bench and door layout.
- Distinguish four seated places from generous reclining space.
- Compare the three 6kW packages on features, not imagined power increases.
- Have any deck support assessed for occupied loading.
