How to Choose a Two-Person Outdoor Sauna

A two-person label is a starting point, not a comfort guarantee. Choose around the people who will use the sauna, their preferred seating position and the space needed to get in and out safely. A compact cabin should feel deliberate, not cramped.

Ask what two-person capacity actually means

Two adults sitting upright is a different requirement from one person lying down or two people stretching out. Request a dimensioned bench drawing and identify the usable seating beside the heater and door. Consider shoulder room, knee space and the route to the exit. If possible, try a similar bench layout before ordering. Do not infer lying-down length from the external cabin width.

Read the Cube 2 dimensions correctly

Swell lists Cube 2 as designed for one to two people. Its external dimensions are 136cm W × 135cm D × 210cm H, while the internal dimensions are 122cm W × 121cm D × 187cm H. The listed upper bench depth is 55cm.[1] These figures help you compare the layout, but an internal width is not a promise of uninterrupted bench length. Ask for the current drawing if a particular sitting position is important.

Decide whether compact is the right priority

Cube 2 is worth considering when one person or a couple will normally use it and the backyard needs to retain circulation space. A larger cabin can be a better choice for two people who want roomier seating or occasionally host friends. The trade-off is not just purchase price: compare the installation envelope, delivery route, selected heater and base requirements. Buying the smallest cabin purely because it fits a nominal rectangle can be a false economy.

Compare the actual heater packages

The current Cube 2 options are The Wall 4.5kW SW45, The Wall 4.5kW SW45E with a Fenix WiFi panel, and Spirit 6kW SP60E with a Xenio WiFi panel.[1] Controls and heater construction differ; WiFi is not a reason to bypass safe pre-start checks. Obtain an electrician’s quote for the exact package. A different heater rating can change the electrical brief even when the cabin is unchanged.

Buy for outdoor ownership, not just the first session

Ask about timber species, continuous versus joined slats, roof covering and the maintenance procedure. Cube 2 uses solid Japanese cedar and bitumen roof shingles.[1] Swell specifies continuous solid cedar slats rather than assemblies of joined shorter lengths, with no epoxy or filler repairs in that timber. Natural knots and variation still need to be assessed in the context of the component; appearance alone is not a structural grade. Plan a stable base, drainage and access for ongoing care.

Your practical checklist

  • Compare usable bench drawings and intended posture.
  • Check the complete site envelope and door access.
  • Select the heater package before requesting the electrical quote.
  • Consider a larger cabin if relaxed two-person seating matters more than minimum size.
